1. Metaphysics
2. Epistemology
3. Ethics
4. Politics
5. Aesthetics
Currently it’s a bit of a mixed bag. The metaphysics to epistemology flip works fairly well, whereas Aesthetics at the end is less than, well, aesthetic!
It's far from finished, I would like to see all five ‘things’ together somehow, also loop it all back in reverse, a version with text labels, etc.
Allusions to each branch's ‘component parts’ like the three metaphysical axioms or the three integrated values of ethics (reason, purpose, self-esteem) are present in the mix but could be developed further.
I am trying to avoid any arbitrary design decisions, yet some are more tenuous than others; there’s the rippling blue-green lustre of Rearden Metal to convey capitalism, then there’s a flaming rose which emerges from chaos to fleetingly indicate beauty. Then there's the ongoing spiral throughout which is for the continual unfolding of space-time, the underlying dynamic of reality and our consequential epistemological updating of it. I certainly think some of these aspects could be simplified visually and made more logical — just five apt objects and their integrated effects, easily held in the mind’s eye, aiming to clarify (rather than confuse) the five core constituent concepts of philosophy.
Anyway, more on this next month…
